    A kidney is a major and small organ with a bean shape that plays a significant role in your body's health. Its major function is to maintain the balance of electrolytes or fluids and remove waste from the blood and transport it through urine out of the body.

    The ways through which its function is affected are high blood pressure and diabetes patients which leads to chronic kidney disease. When it is not working properly, waste builds up in our blood. The risk factors for these are obesity, smoking, genetics, age and gender.

    So, some food will be able to increase the health of kidneys, while others may cause harm and stress. So, the major role in the health of kidney is diet. Dietitians help you to consider which diet you have to choose for kidney health.

Food to avoid  for kidneys:

    Kidney friendly diet is a way of eating that help to decrease the amount of accumulated waste from the blood. As we know kidney's role in our body is to get rid of waste so to achieve this function there must be:

  • Balance in your body fluid
  • Maintain a level of minerals like sodium (because our body cannot filter excess sodium so the level must be less than 2000mg per day)
  • Reduce the level of potassium ( limit potassium level to less than 2000mgper day)
  • Make favourable hormones for their function

1. Fish:

    Fish have a high amount of omega-3 fatty acid which is an important source of high-quality protein and makes a beneficial property in the diet.

    It reduces the formation of low-density lipoprotein (bad cholesterol) and boosts the formation of High-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol).

    According to the National kidney foundation, Omega 3 fats help to lower blood pressure and also reduce the level of fat in the blood.

2. Cauliflower:

    Cauliflower is considered to be a rich source of Vitamin C, vitamin K, folate and fibre that help the body resist toxins that cause damage to DNA and cell membrane. It has anti-inflammatory characteristics and compounds such as indoles. It can be used as an alternative to potatoes for the intake of low potassium.

3. Berries:

    Berries perform the function of anti-inflammatory property because it is rich source antioxidants and low in potassium. It includes blueberries, strawberries and raspberries. They protect body cells from destruction.

    Blueberries are a rich source of vitamin C, fibre and manganese. The extra function of blueberries is to reduce the loss of bone.

4. Garlic:

6. Egg white:

    Egg white is a good source of a low potassium diet for kidney patients. It is a rich source of protein and gives essential amino acids to the body. Mostly egg white is recommended as compared to egg yolk.

7. Apple:

    Apple is a healthy snack and has anti-inflammatory properties. It is a rich source of pectin which is a fibre that helps in reducing the chances of kidney damage. It also reduces the level of cholesterol that prevent heart diseases.

 8. Water:

Water helps in reducing kidney damage

    The best way to avoid kidney disease is to hydrate your body by drinking a high amount of water. It increases the ability of cells to carry toxins toward the bloodstream.
